LOG November 2022

November 05, 2022

Dear Beloveds of Red Oak Grove,

Fall is coming to a close and we even begin Advent at the end of this month. It is the time of year where we begin to see one another and gather regularly with our friends and family. Often, the most important thing that brings us together in these times of year is food. We eat big meals, watch football, prep for shopping, spend time laughing and simply being together during the time surrounding Thanksgiving. It is a cozy time of  year. For many, it is a favorite time of year, though a stressful time, too. I hope for all of you it is full of good food, fun, and safety!

In Psalm 95, we are invited to give thanks and worship for all the gifts that the Lord has given us. We know that in thankfulness, we find comfort in this message. Psalm 95:1-7 reads:

O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his  presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his  also. The sea is his, for he made it, and the dry land, which his hands have formed. O come, let us worship  and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his  pasture, and the sheep of his hand. (NRSV)

In this season of thanksgiving, I hope that we remember all of the things for which we give thanks, including the unending ways that God takes care of us and God’s creation. We also give thanks for being the people of God’s pasture all year long!

Happy Thanksgiving!

With God’s Peace and Blessings,

Pastor Leandra
