Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church Council Minutes- May 20, 2025

The meeting was called to order by President, Rony Magnuson. Members in attendance included: Rony, Pastor Leandra, Julie H., Mike, Diana, Cathy, Pete, Julie B. and Nancy. Pastor Leandra led opening prayer.

Secretary’s Report: 

Report sent via email with no corrections sent back. Report approved as is by all present.

Pastor Report: 

Report attached. Also reviewed current and proposed Confirmation curriculum. Report approved by all present as is.

Treasurer’s Report:

Beginning Balance: $61,984.96

Revenue: $57,671.05 (Donation from estate of (Nathan & Verna M.)

Expenses: $11,347.89

Ending Balance: $108,308.12

Motion made to rollover CD maturing on 7/15/25 by Diana, seconded by Cathy. Motion approved by all.

Deacon’s Report:  Nothing to report

Trustee’s Report:

Sink, bathroom, and lights in Fellowship are all still being worked on and progress continues. Receiving sample membrane to help seal and fix bell tower.

WELCA Report:

Preparing for Strawberry Social most supplies have arrived. Meat is ordered and waiting for strawberries to arrive. No seating in basement, some seating outside. Sue calling and arranging workers for event.

Old Business:

1. Community Lutheran contract to continue as Red Oak Grove paying 60% (yearly $28,503.94) of pastor salary and Community Lutheran paying 40% (yearly $19,002.62). Switching service times continue in July and January. Motion to approve resigning contract by Julie H. and seconded by Mike. Approved by all present.

2. July 27th will be a joint service with Community Lutheran and be Service in the Prairie at a member of Community Lutherans home. More details and address to come.

3. Digital sign work is still in the works. Getting prices and quotes.

4. First Aid Kit has been updated, still working on ordering AED pads before old ones expire in August.

New Business:

1. 1st graders have picked out and received their books that we purchased through a grant.

2. Children attending Good Earth Village this year a motion was made that parents will cover the deposit required and church will cover the remaining cost. Motion made by Julie H. and seconded by Nancy and approved by all present.

3. Rony, Julie H. and Pastor will work on a committee to update and review Constitution to present back to Council for approval and then to congregational meeting. Will post in bulletin if any church members would like to join committee should let Julie H., Rony, or Pastor know.

4. Speaker guy will be coming this week to look into fixing/replacing speakers and getting pastors headset working.

5. Girl Scouts will be coming on Thursday to plant flowers. Will also be here June 9th. They will be here for there ceremony and use basement for their meeting.

Meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
